BMW's innovative X3 interactive kiosks received the 2004

Outstanding Merchandising Achievement Award (OMA) in the U.S. Point Of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) hosted the OMA Award presentation as part of Advertising Week and honored the Gold OMA award winners with engraved statues.

"We are very enthusiastic about receiving this distinguished Gold OMA award," says Thomas Salkowsky, Manager, Consumer Events. "This state of the art wireless technology enables us to connect with potential clients on their terms in locations they visit."

The award-winning X3 kiosks were developed to generate "buzz," build brand awareness and promote the new BMW X3, which launched in February of this year. The kiosks enable BMW to be strategically located where potential clients are likely to gather - i.e. Jet Blue Terminals, Virgin MegaStores, ESPN Zones, Galyans Sports and Outdoor Centers and similar locations. The wireless technology imbedded within each kiosk allows BMW to track prospective leads in real time, tailor the message and graphic presentation points to each specific location, and monitor those under-performing kiosks to relocate them to higher performance locations. "BMW continues to develop innovative approaches to communicate with potential clients and these kiosks are another example," says Thomas Salkowsky.

The kiosks, which are mobile and can be folded in half, feature innovative touch screen technology, high-resolution video and a customizable exterior graphic that enable the user to access information about the X3 with the touch of a finger. In retail environments, the kiosks have been a success as they allow customers to learn about the X3 at their leisure.
