Westport Innovations Inc.'s (CA:WPT) subsidiary Westport Germany GmbH and BMW
AG of Munich, Germany have signed a new agreement for supply and development
tasks of hydrogen-fueled injection components. Since 2002, Westport has worked
with BMW Group to provide hydrogen fuel system hardware. BMW has been developing
technology that allows the use of hydrogen in internal combustion engines for
more than twenty years. In 2001, BMW launched the Clean Energy World Tour with a
fleet of 15 hydrogen powered 7 Series models and has continued to strongly
promote the hydrogen combustion engine. More information about BMW Group's

"Our new long-term agreement with BMW is a very important milestone for us. This
framework will govern how we conduct cooperative projects to advance the
technology for hydrogen engines," said Dr. Michael Gallagher, Westport's Chief
Operating Officer. "With this agreement, we look forward to working with BMW,
one of the world's leaders in high-performance engine design and development, en
route to their commercial production of the hydrogen engine."
